hey guys. it's been a while. i'll just came back from israel and settled into Oxford. i'm doing exchange here in oxford for one semester to fill the big void that ailin left behind. i'll be in europe until mid January - and after that i'll fly back to Princeton for the next semester. if you guys are planning on visiting europe, now is the time. oh and just for the record, i'm clueless as to when you guys are graduating or who have graduated; but i have 2 years to go.

huijie kindly hosted me with dessert and dinner on august 25, and then bed and breakfast on september 5-6... pictures pictures. please join us in future cookouts.

as you can see, this country has everything and is a must go. i'll definitely go again in the future, though you do burn all the cash here coz everything is so expensive in scandinavia. rented a cool manual car (which was a beast) and drove around on the gravel bumpy washboard roads. camped in tents for the short nights. good thing here is that the day almost never ends (gets dark at 2330 and starts getting bright at 0400.. and this is august. in june it never really gets dark). covered 2400km over 7 days with my awesome travelmate.

I told everyone that after iceland, it'll be difficult to find other places in the world which are worth visiting...

hope everyone is having a good time in Singapore. Revive this blog!

thanks to huijie for accommodation, coolness, and excitement. couldn't appreciate it more. loved the partying in pub, expensive pub with transvestites, in friend's house, and by the beach. loved the bumming around. loved the ghetto wall. now i'm back to being alone (although i just bummed into a Pole, a few French guys, and a few Canadians)...

So.....

OAC OUTING in Europe 2008 has taken place in...Warsaw, Poland!!!!!! more pictures to come i hope

Here is me and Justin- I have introduced Justin to the reason why I'm coming home late everyday in Warsaw, and I'm sure he would agree with me that its a good bunch of friends hehe :D very cool

So Justin arrived in Warsaw on Thursday night at 11.30 pm, and I was at the pub with *ahem* about 12 men ,mostly drunk. So Justin comes and the first thing happens is that a drunk gay guy hits on him immediately and spends the next 30 minutes rambling to Justin. But Justin took it like a man and managed to handle him quite well. Hurray for Justin!!!! thank you very much.. it could have been worse.

And we've concluded, after years of graduating, things don't change. some things do. i gained weight, and i've a lot of stuff on my face now coz i've been sleeping on filthy surfaces for some time where spiders and ants come to hang out. i'm still bullying oac guys, and oac guys are still letting me do that. LOL. i'm sure i'm much nicer now, yes justin? i think you never bullied me before lah.. your target was more like saykai and weileong. my pleasure to be of service to a lady.

the blog is abit dead again... need to revive it... hope this small incident from school will make you laugh:

setting: teacher's tone is serious, wants the students to go back and tell their parents that they love them, because teacher feels that students are not showing enough gratitude
class reaction: huuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh [very long huh and huge commotion]
student A raises hand: teacher, my mother will ask me if i want extra pocket money
student B immediately says: teacher, my father has heart attack one leh...

yeah that's my experience with a not so typical sec 2 class in the sch... otherwise, teaching has been pretty smooth sailing for me... maybe because i only taught 2 classes and had like 4 lessons a week only... only thing was that i was doing chemistry (which i haven't touched in 4 years!)

but yes, i'm slacking again... don't think i'll be working... so very free!! let's meet up again before everybody starts school... not to mention huijie wants to see more photos!!

what is wrong with these people?? there's actually a really huge turn-up.

From sian-nification to perking up...

people normally go drinking after work, and we're normal people, so we went drinking too.

just that we drank TEA- cultured until the roots of our hair. Things were pretty interesting, until the EXCELLENT (kindly note the sarcasm here) service shattered the ambience (not that there is much to speak of in the first place) i.e. we were made to feel unwelcome, got shoo-ed to a corner of the teahouse by loud lady who obviously loves money, coerced into buying more tea than a normal human should consume($90 worth if i'm not mistaken), nagged at by THAT prc woman about money, money and money, got dumped plastic bags at and told to clear up after ourselves.

great aint it. bestest of the best of lousiest service imaginable. one would have thought they are paying us to sit there. sorry, rambled.... really really dislike that place. yikes.

saved by self-service from our two wonderful ladies.

please protect me from jy, she's so gonna kill me after her batam trip...

amazingly, many people turned up and we still had fun.

we're cultured people afterall, the guys + jy are not trying to tempt you...

despite gulping the tea one-shot (cow-consumption style), pouring tea into both tall and short teacups and popping chocolate covered coffee beans into our mouth before and after sipping (yes sipping. dainty) the tea, we are cultured people. cultured and hungry! went to maxwell for more food. =P

Yups, please msg me if your attendance is changing. Actually, am just back from a *COUGH* recce of the place. Lotus leaf rice is wonderful *dies* the tea is superb, drank about 3 pots. But take note that spending will be about $10, cos there will be a min spending of $6 on tea. They got like teas with super fantastic names that sound like they drop straight from heaven and will prolong your life by 250 years. Personally think is very worth it, since is very Cultural Chill Out place.

i am flying off from New York to Germany today (finally) in about 7 hours time. This is after disgusting things like 5-week delay in receiving document required to apply for visa; forfeiting cheap air ticket; moving all over the place for the past week and sleeping on boxes and tables coz i've been chased out of my campus residence.. hee hee. distant memories about looking for a house?? but yea, i can feel the ruggedness coming back :P

am scheduled to meet up with huijie in berlin on 20 July weekend and in warsaw again on 21-22 August.. can unfortunately not meet with ailin.. many other little meetings with other friends not restricted to oac. but if you happen to be in europe during this time, better make an appointment with me or else...

IT has been a day of surprises for mr Lim Wei Leong , who turns 21 today.

This starts off with unsuspecting Weileong meeting CHiobu (SHIT MY FACE IS ROUNDER ..i blame it to heat thus my face swell :D ) at Raffles City in front of some strange water fountain thing that does not work. The unsuspecting Weileong and the Rounder-faced chiobu discusses issues like pimple outbreaks over iced milo and ribena at the food court.

Both set off for Suntec CIty and TADAA meishi and shiwei pop up.

4 of us continue our journey and TAADAA Jang shows up.

5 of us walk on and TAADAAA saykai appears.

6 of us reach Suntec and sits down at Fei Cui Kitchen and TAADAA Wuhui and JD arrive.

8 of us start eating and TAADAAA Alvin shows up.

9 of us finally decide that no more surprises will happen thus we proceed on to the more organized part...

we need aircon to survive and it so happened the area we were camping at was right smack at the entrance of this (as mama jy puts it in this very pulau ubin manner) 'lemon-grass' smelling room with cool air beckoning us in.

Physics! Every point mass attracts every other point mass by a force pointing along the line intersecting both points. The force is proportional to the product of the two masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the point masses. yah, i cheated (of course!) i wiki-ed it. haha. buttt the point is, THAT lemon grassy room had amazing forces of attraction, everyone got sucked in quickly.

we pulled the anti-social, self-entertaining stunt and isolated ourselves in the room with twisted balloons. twisted balloons like those we had for maf and the cool environment made us happy, thus 'click-click' inclined.

we were to meet at 2. or 230... oh well some time around that, but people started arriving after 3. as usual we roamed around, unable to decide what's yummy and can also afford us the space to be noisy. finally settled at b&j. guys wanted to order the Vermonster (read: 20 scopes of ice-cream). wah happiness! but female being female got the mini version, i.e. 6 scopes... and the guys decided they shouldnt be such monsters.

weileong's scope of ice-cream. haha. later than late, so he had to get his own share.
he had to clean his office and his manager offered to help him hold the bucket of water. the manager even informed weileong that if his boss asked him to clean, he will gladly do so too... hinthint, weileong just clean lah. but of course mr weileong didnt do the cleaning as told...

Let's see, dwelling on the draining schoolwork doesnt seem right, 've yet to start working hard enough to allow my energy to be sapped much. AND with so many people not in sgp, the only fun thing that happened to me recently is the event I went to yesterday night. Correction: technically, it's the night before yesterday since yesterday's midnight has passed.

Semi accomplished one thing on my to-do* list (visiting a gay pub). Why semi you ask? Semi because I didnt go visit,. They came to the event. I didnt go to them. IF THE MOUNTAIN WILL NOT COME TO MOHAMMED, MOHAMMED WILL GO TO THE MOUNTAIN.

yeah, absurdity aside, just imagine me staring in awe at the goodlooking butches and femmes swarming around at the event. dang. my life is just so not happening in comparison. this point in time, the author of the post decided she is gonna drive herself into schizophrenia soon if she continues with her uneventful lifestyle and I think so too.

Conclusion drawn at the end of the day (haa! i've arrived at this back in j1 with cheryl tan!):
it's advantageous to be bisexual since you can have the best of both world.

we can go to some nearby beach resort, eg. bintan, tioman, pulau redang, desaru, phuket.. the list goes on. what to do there? chill out!

well. the first thing is to gather ppl who will be free (and willing) to go for this. then next is to set the time.. after the uni exams? somewhere in mid december? all those have to be fixed first, before deciding on where to go and how long..

budget, itenary, stuff to bring, to do will be planned along the way, i suppose.

well. anybody got any lobangs for this? its either we approach a tour agency for a package or plan everything out. the latter's abit challenging unless somebody has experience in this..

hello boys and girls.. it's been more than 2 months since we said our goodbyes..

reached Newark on 30 Aug after 17 hours of flight + 8 hours in LA airport waiting for transit. As usual didn't need to adjust jetlag (:D). one day later, met some of my princeton classmates to go on a 36.5-mile Outdoor Action trip over 6 days in black forest pennsylvania as a part of the preorientation program.. the elevation change everyday was seriously maddening, but i feel so accomplished that i completed the journey.. and i kinda like, thought about how cool it would have been if i were doing all the trekking with my OAC friends. *sobs*

Since I was on OA trip before this, technically, my real first week spent here. In fact I'm not even half-way through my first week. Everything is just getting so hyped up over here. I skipped 3 meals in a row to get things, or rather trying to get things done. I guess events are building up into the Princeton mode, where no one really has time to do anything, and each day is just a huge mad dash trying to get to a particular place before a particular time, interspersed with moments of moodswings, at one time feeling awesome seeing how things can go right, and the very next instant feeling crappy worrying how things can go wrong. Don't really have time to think or contemplate what next, or muse over trivial matters such as washing bowls which hasn't been washed since before OA trip, or doing laundry which is piling up to the ceiling. On second thought, these may not be so trivial after all. but i'm so tired and sleepy all day.. it's exhausting.

i guess i'll have to pull through this on my own for now...

hello everyone.

i'm supposed to be out of here tomorrow, but because of some screw-ups made by the agency, i have to push my flight to wednesday and transit at LA. I'll be flying to Newark(New York). My school is near New York City, within 1 hour drive. I guess it'll be unnecessary to post my flight details here, although i really wouldn't mind if you wanna come send me off from the taiwan airport. hah!

and.. how come the pictures taken in taiwan aren't up here yet? i guess it's retribution time for me who hasn't uploaded the send-off pictures and such. sigh. upload the sushi pictures please. i swear, that i dreamt of you guys last night, probably because i went trekking in the day. in that dream we were crowding in some narrow balcony, and everyone had a sushi or two in their hands and more in their mouths except for me. i tried snatching one from ailin. was one which had salmon sashimi on it. of course ailin, being the mean girl she is, didn't spare me one, and pointed at huijie, who was evidently trying to steal one from weileong. throughout the entire, dream, i was trying to find someone to chat with and some sushi to eat, but everone was busy eating and ignored me. that's all i can remember.

hope it wouldn't be like that when we meet a few years down the road.

Revamped OAC Gathering!

hey guys, me n sheryl came up with this idea of changing the schedule of the upcoming gathering on 18 Aug.. to something that involves some outdoors!! (okay it's still rather indoor..)

the idea is to go climbing in the afternoon, something that most of us haven't done in a loooong while (cept that rather ill-fated trip..) most of us have probably forgotten how the wall looks like, or even forgot how 2 put on the harness!! anyway, this will also probably be sheryl's only shot at goin climbing while she's in currently in sg..

how bout the sushi buffet? we go afterwards. after getting enough exercise from climbing, we'll go for a nice long sushi/sashimi/japanese buffet dinner! so the original idea of goin 2 eat buffet still exists, cept timing is slightly modified..

well here's the plan:

Date: 18 Aug 2007, Saturday (still the same)
Time: noon till 10.30pm (dinner ends at this time)
Venue: from noon to about 5pm - Climb Adventure or Yishun Safra (i'll go check out which is better)
from 6.30pm to 10.30pm - Honjin Japanese Restaurant (140 Robinson Road)

well, this is what roughly i propose that we'll do.. for the climbing part, it'll either be at Climb Adventure (now at some ulu thingy in clementi), or Yishun Safra (longer walls, though we've never tried yet). then the makan place.. is basically an ala-carte buffet restaurant, with quite good food. price isn't too high la, more ex than suki but tastes better =)

Hello everyone!

After sending Justin off, we (me, chiobus huijie and meishi, shuaiges *ahem* saykai, shiwei and weileong) went for sakae sushi lunch at Changi Airport... that non-buffet Japanese meal released our cravings for more sushi/ chawanmushi/ fried tofu/ sashimi, so we want more...

therefore, the next OAC indoor, air-con gathering will be a sushi buffet gathering!!

Time: 11.30 am (buffet officially starts at 12pm, but knowing us, we have to declare an earlier timing!!)

along with 2 VJ ODAC, 3 of us set off to walk across england via the ancient Hadrian's Wall Ruins. something like great wall of china, but not so great, but still damn cool. the 84 mile, 7 day walk took us across rivers, cities, made us climb up mountains, valleys, along quarries, and past the whole stretch of the wall (or what remains of it), with all the ancient ruins intact.

a wonderful experience! we shared songs, cheers, odac experiences etc. it was all very very nice. especially with the roaming sheeps, cows, horses, lambs, whatever. they all siam when we walk thr them. hehe.

the walk itself was quite chiong. one day we did 20 miles up and down mountains over the best scenic spots...nearly died sia.. almost crawled at the end haha. we slept in barns, farmhouses, pitched tents etc.

i suspect the space above my wisetooth and beneath the swollen gum is now filled with yellow/red liquids. i dun wanna investigate into it. headache continues, so i here i am spamming the blog with my own blabberings. time/pain killer.

that's it. a few months into driving along the streets of taipei and i can successfully accomplish the following, which doesn't earn me much bragging rights because failure to perform such tricks will result in beeps, flashes (with the strong light), and people winding(or button-pressing) down their windows to glare/spit/throw vulgarities at you. disclaimer: text contains exaggerations based on hard facts

1) drive into, then across main-roads-intersection when traffic lights are about to/just turn from yellow to red.
2) on the main road where speed-limit is 50 km/h, drive at a speed of >70km/h, periodically decelerating to below 45km/h whenever a speed camera is nearby. speed cameras are located whereever the cars in front of you begin to slow down for no apparent rhyme or reason
3) within a 8-m wide alley with double-row parking, drive at a speed of ~40km/h (yes close to the main road speed limit), while not running into pedestrians/motorbikes/cars which suddenly pops out of interesections of alleys from time to time, nor losing my two ears (aka the side-rear mirrors)
4) effortlessly drive at said speed on said roads even though encircled by swarms of motorbikes
5) if doing so increases the average speed of one's journey without involving any apparent risk/danger, drive against the flow of the traffic headway (using the D/1-5 gear) or tail way (using the R gear, aka going backwards) for a plausibly short distance
6) park illegally, unofficially legalised by the absence of cops
7) should cops reappear, rush to car to beg for mercy. and if unsuccessful pay S$45. i've never needed to to do second/third part before.
8) in the Singaporean sense, turn left from the rightmost lane and turn right from the leftmost lane. looks like the pretext "in the Singaporean sense" is unnecessary.
9) perform reverse parallel parking in one single attempt, leaving just enough room for passengers to exit on the right. as for me, will have to climb to the right to alight. i swear our parking spaces are narrower than singapore's; which is in turn narrower than US's.

however, i must still look up to the taxis and buses (taxis especially) for the following.. these are the stunts to earn bragging rights:
1) on a 8-lane two-way road under a 6pm taipei setting (swarming with motorbikes and cars), overtake by cutting from the outermost lane to the innermost lane then back to the outermost lane again to make a right turn. entire process done within the scope of 10 seconds.
2) within a 6-m wide alley with double-row parking, drive at a speed of ~40km/h (yes close to the main road speed limit), while not running into pedestrians/motorbikes/cars which suddenly pops out of interesections of alleys from time to time, nor losing their two ears (aka the side-rear mirrors)
3) when there's a long queue of cars waiting to make a left-turn, chiong to the road junction from the right-most lane and make a left turn from there.
4) horns an exceedingly loud beeeeeeep to notify people of their arrival when doing the above said stunt
5) manages to change lanes by squeezing into a closing gap between to cars on the next lane
6) where turning-left is forbidden, somehow vanish into a narrow lane and reappear having accomplished the left-turn
7) should the need arise, stop beside someone and wind down their windows to pour out vulgarities in our taiwanese dialect for the entire duration of a red-light (ranging from 30-99 seconds).

prospective visitors, fear not. the entire taiwanese population of 23,000,000 have survived such traffic conditions. i'm sure JD and I did. and i promise to drive extra-safely when hosting the much respected guests... just that you may have to bear with the formalities (beeps).

once upon a time there was a wisdom tooth on the upper left in my mouth cavity.. we used to coexist in harmony, ever since it emerged partially in summer. Then recently I discovered that that tooth is somehow blocked, so it's unable to emerge fully; and as the wise tooth continues to push relentlessly outwards so as to be able to breathe the foul stench in my mouth, the said tooth is also pushing the other teeth away and thus screwing up my teeth alignment, which i paid a great cost (4 teeth, some bucks) to correct a few years ago.

last friday i went to visit the dentist to deal with the tooth appropriately.. the process went like:

dentist: open your mouth *begins to squirt small volumes of clear liquid into my mouth by means of a syringe*
me: uhhh.. oooooh.. oooooooooooh. (begins to foam)
dentist: oh. it's hydrogen peroxide.. so it decomposes to give a great deal of oxygen.. dun be too alarmed if you find the foam covering your mouth... *looks* or your nose... *pauses a little* and possibly even your eyes... *searches for a piece of tissue paper to wipe away the foam from my forehead*
me: *attempts to speak with my mouth wide open*

(foam subsided)

D: (strangely enough, he understands what i said) well, that shld be clean enough. time for anaesthesia *pokes a steel needle into my gum*
me: oooouuuuccch. ahh. ahhhh. ahaha...
D: hmmmm. we'll wait for a while for anaesthesia to effect.

(after ten minutes)

D: Alright, should be done. open your mouth please.. *pauses* oh.. this wisdom tooth isn't fully emerged. A large part of it is still embedded in your gum, so we'll have to slice open and cut up the gum to reveal the entire tooth. Then we'll see what we can do about it... so... *sticks a long sharp needle into my mouth cavity*..
me: *gulps*
D: *uses the needle to poke at my gum, as one will when testing if a piece of steak is still raw*
D: feel anything?
me: noo.
D: *pokes again* here?
me: no.
D: *after a great deal of poking around* alright your entire tooth is revealed liao.
me: @@

D: you're in luck here.. your tooth is growing in the correct direction.. else i'll have to shatter it, then pick out the broken pieces one by one.
me: .....
D: *changes tool to a huge clip.. those you use to facilitate the eating of chilli crab*
D>: don't move... ahhhh! alright, it's done.
me: so fast
D: well, not quite over yet. need to scrape away some remaining flesh in the hole where your wisdom tooth used to stand, else it'll begin to rot and attract vultures. *starts scraping on all four sides*
D: now we'll sew it up and it's done.
me: *heaves sigh of relief*

so i left the clinic. for the next 24 hours can perpetually taste blood in my mouth. therefore not supposed to eat/drink anything, esp warm/hot food, else it triggers more bleeding. interestingly, when the wound healed on sunday evening, the gum surrounding my other wisdom tooth on the bottom right began to swell.. and now it has covered my entire wise tooth.. and my entire head is aching.. :'(

i'll be seeing my dear dentist next week to rid myself of any remaining wisdom. tsk tsk.

justin. unemployed. in taipei in early Aug. based in taipei, but oscillates to singapore before swinging to US.

well... so there're 3 of us~~ someone please come fill the last vacant spot!

hello everyone...

i am back from switzerland... it is a very very very nice place! imagine being in a small quaint town where you look left, you have rolling hills and pastures in different shades of green, gold and brown, occasionally with black and white spots (because of cows!! haha). then when you look right, you haved soaring peaks capped with snow!! then you look in front, you have shimmering lakes in different shades of blue!! i am not kidding!! it is gorgeous!! and the people were very friendly too!! quite a few hilarious moments along the trip which i will shortly post on my blog after i get all the photos...

and i know most of us have exams and stuff, but making summer plans gives us the motivation to mug harder for our exams yeah...

firstly, sheryl glad to hear that you are coming back to SG!! we can have a more complete gathering :)

secondly i also want to announce that i'll be back in SG on 30th june!! then i think i'll be heading to beijing from 14jul-8aug... so if there are cheap cheap budget flights to taipei, i might fly down there for 2-3 days, and justin can be tour guide yeah!!
